The House of Puerto Rico San Diego has constructed a "cottage" in the world-renown Balboa Park, San Diego. This park, established in 1868, includes various museums: San Diego Museum of Art, San Diego Natural History Museum, Timken Museum of Art, and others. One area of interest is the House of Pacific Relations, International Cottages. Here a number of countries have small museums that provide exhibits about their art, culture, history, etc. The countries represented include: China, Colombia, England, France, Germany, Iran, Italy, Mexico, Spain, and others. The House of Puerto Rico San Diego was given the opportunity to construct a "cottage" in this area which includes a small museum dedicated to Puerto Rican history, culture, art, politics, sports, science. Its opening occurred on Saturday, February 4, 2006.
It is our goal that this museum and its exhibits be of the highest quality and positively reflect our history, culture, and values. We are committed to educate our museum visitors about Puerto Rico, not only the San Diego community in general but also Puerto Ricans and their children who live in San Diego.
Thank you for your interest in our museum and we look forward to seeing you here.
